This session aims to develop an understanding on how to support and cater for the cultural and linguistic needs of students who are new to Australia and/or to Standard Australian English and the Australian education system. |

Participants will:
• Explore effective practices to enhance a culture of learning and improvement focused on strength-based approaches.
• Understand the cultural, linguistic, social and emotional considerations required to support new arrivals.
• Develop an understanding of the process of second language acquisition.
• Build confidence and effectiveness to support new arrival students and families.
