Title     Youth in Distress Training and Application for CEWA Schools - Day 1 - 7 March 2024 / Day 2 (Case discussion) - 9 May 2024
     
Target Audience     Catholic Schools
     
Rationale     With a focus on self-harm and suicide in adolescence, this new program will assist mental health clinicians to manage youth in distress, self-harm and suicidality. The program has been designed to build on the current level of skills of participants and to further develop confidence in undertaking risk assessment and safety planning for youth in distress. It is strongly recommended that participants have previously completed the Gatekeeper Suicide Prevention Training.
     
Content     This a Blended mix of online, self-directed learning and Interactive Zoom workshops. Topic include: • The suicidal crisis • Assessing and managing risk • Self-harm • After the attempt • Self-care Day 2 involves participation in an applied learning session within a smaller group (participants will be allocated to a morning or afternoon session). Learnings from day one will be discussed and considered within a CEWA context.

Additional Comments     IMPORTANT NOTE: This registration will register you for both Day 1 & Day 2 (PLEASE NOTE: Day 2 will be held on 9 May 2024. Ensure you are available for both those dates. Day 2 involves participation in an applied learning session within a smaller group (participants will be allocated to a morning or afternoon session). Learnings from day one will be discussed and considered within a CEWA context. Further details regarding log in will be sent closer to the dates.
     
Outcomes     On completion participants will: • Manage youth in distress and self-harm • Undertake a suicide risk assessment effectively • Develop a collaborative safety plan • Implement a team approach to treatment planning • Provide effective management following a suicide attempt • Identify strategies for self-care
