Tenancy Lawyer (Daydawn Advocacy Centre)
Permanent, Part-Time OR Full-Time (0.80 – 1.0 FTE)
Monday to Thursday/Friday from 9am – 5pm
Daydawn Advocacy Centre is an outreach agency of the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth which seeks to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and advocate on their behalf. Services include provision of legal and social advocacy services for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
Daydawn is actively looking for a Tenancy Lawyer who can provide legal support and guidance on all tenancy matters, as well as represent clients in court. In this role, you will oversee the Tenancy Advocate Assistants and volunteers, ensuring that legal services are provided efficiently. This role will report to the Director of Daydawn. This role is available on a permanent basis and can be either full-time or part-time.

The successful candidate must hold an unrestricted legal Australian Practising Certificate and have knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act WA (1987). They must have a willingness and capacity to support the Catholic ethos. They will understand the type of issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples values within a spiritual context. Strong networking and negotiation skills, and the ability to facilitate legal support for clients will be required. The role requires intermediate level skills in the Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Word and Outlook) and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Civil Magistrates Court trial experience including experience in examination in chief and cross-examination will be highly regarded.
A valid National Police Clearance required.
