Position Details

Good Shepherd Catholic School is a double stream primary school located in Lockridge. Good Shepherd is a very multicultural school with families coming from over 40 different countries and cultures. Our School values are Respect, Community, Diversity and Excellence. We believe in building a safe, inclusive and secure learning community in which all children can develop a sense of belonging and well-being.

This is a part-time three days a week, ongoing position. Work days are negotiable. Work times are 8am-4pm but are negotiable.

The Social Worker is an integral part of the overall pastoral care of the school, focusing on the student in the school environment in order to facilitate successful learning outcomes.

The position requires a qualified Social worker to assess and develop strategies to address emotional and mental health needs of children, young people and their families, within an educational context.

Applicants shortlisted for an interview will be provided with a copy of the CEWA Mental Health Practitioner Practice Guidelines.


Selection Criteria

The Successful Applicant will be required to:

•    Be fully supportive of the objectives and ethos of Catholic Education.
•    Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students and parents.
•    Support students with their individual social and emotional needs.
•    Provide strategies to assist teachers in building positive relationships and resilience in students.
•    Liaise with the school Principal and class teachers to establish strategies and action plans that will promote student well-being and assist in maintaining the well being of students, staff and the wider school community.
•    Work collaboratively with parents.


Qualifications Required

•    Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
