Teacher (Performing Arts)
Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School, located in the picturesque town of Esperance, is a co-educational primary school catering for approximately 150 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6. The school was built in 1992 and was established to be a distinctively Catholic learning community with a clear vision to provide a stimulating environment where each student has the opportunity to grow in their faith and to be confident life-long learners. At Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School we Make Jesus Real by living out our CORE values of Courage, Optimism, Respect and Excellence. Our inquiry approach to learning is evident throughout the school, focusing on student engagement and rich, real life learning opportunities. A 1:1 iPad program operates in Years 3-6.
We seek a Performing Arts Teacher to begin 1 January 2026. This is a fixed-term position for the 2026 school year, with the strong possibility of continuing in 2027. Applicants are asked to state their experience and/or qualifications in the Performing Arts area/s of Drama, Dance or Music. The Performing Arts subject covered in 2026 will depend on the skillset, qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.
Selection Criteria
• Support the objectives and ethos of Catholic Education
• Qualifications and/or experience in teaching the Performing Arts area/s of Drama, Dance and/or Music
• Have a sound understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum and current educational theories/practices in the area/s of Drama, Dance and/or Music
• Demonstrate the ability to use assessment effectively and differentiate the teaching and learning program to cater for a variety of student needs
• Be an enthusiastic and highly capable teacher able to work cooperatively and collaboratively as part of a team
• Have sound ICT skills and the ability to integrate technology into the curriculum to enhance learning
• Be an organised staff member who shows initiative, flexibility and displays a positive outlook
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrate the capacity and enthusiasm to build community in collaboration with staff, parents and students.
• Be a reflective practitioner, open to feedback and professional growth
Qualifications Required
• Relevant four year tertiary qualification
• Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School, or the willingness to obtain this.
