Maintenance and Grounds Person
St Damien’s Catholic Primary School, Dawesville is a co-educational, double stream school from 3-Year-Old Kindergarten to Year Six, located approximately 12km south from central Mandurah. The school enjoys a close relationship with the Parish and strong support from the parent community.
St Damien’s Catholic Primary School is seeking a Maintenance and Grounds Person. This is a part-time 12 month fixed-term position (0.4FTE) as a Maintenance and Ground Person, commencing on 12 March 2026 (negotiable), with flexibility in working hours across the allocated days. The successful applicant is responsible for all matters relating to the provision of a high standard of maintenance of St Damien’s Catholic Primary School buildings, property and grounds. They will be required to work in consultation with the Leadership Team and Finance Officer to provide input to assist with the school’s infrastructure planning, construction, refurbishment, security, Work Health and Safety (WHS) and environmental management.
Selection Criteria
We are seeking a Maintenance and Grounds Person that is able to:
• Carry out work to maintain the grounds and maintenance requirements to ensure the safe, efficient and smooth operation of the school.
• Inspect school grounds, buildings, and facilities to maintain safety, functionality, and visual appeal.
• Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner.
• Monitor water usage and reticulation systems, performing repairs as needed.
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure quality work and timely delivery of goods and services.
• Support school logistics, including event setups, furniture moves, and deliveries.
• Understands and be able to use tools, machinery and safety, and comply with WHS protocols when using machinery and/or equipment.
• Supporting Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements, including hazard identification and reporting.
• Communicate regularly with the Leadership Team and Finance Officer regarding budgets, priorities, and infrastructure planning.
• Must be physically fit and mobile to be able to successfully complete manual tasks and have good observation skills.
• Hold a current WA Drivers’ Licence.
• Work autonomously and have sound problem solving skills.
Qualifications Required
Requirements for the Role:
• To be fully supportive of the objectives and ethos of Catholic Education in the performance of their duties.
• Hold a current Working with Children Check Card.
• Have a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC), as processed by the Department of Education.
• Be willing to be working towards or have completed the Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School (in accordance with CEWA requirements).
