Position Details
Social Worker – Part-time (0.6 FTE), Ongoing
St Peter's Primary School is seeking a passionate, dynamic and enthusiastic Social Worker to join our diverse, committed and vibrant team. Applicants must be fully supportive of the objectives and ethos of Catholic education.
This position will commence 1 January 2025 and is part-time three days per week (negotiable).
St Peter’s Primary School located in Inglewood, caters for over 760 students from Pre Kindy to Year Six. At St Peter's Primary School, our core mission is to inspire students to learn, achieve and serve with integrity. Our core values - TRUE (Trust, Respect, Unity, Excellence) - are central to our school’s philosophy. We aim to nurture each child’s unique abilities, providing an environment where they can flourish emotionally, spiritually, academically and socially. There is also a strong early intervention program at St Peter’s Primary School.
Selection Criteria
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
• work professionally and co-operatively with the Leadership Team and with staff;
• counsel students and families (previous experience working with young people and families is desirable);
• promote and lead the Protective Behaviours Program – Keeping Safe Child Protection Curriculum;
• liaise and assist with referrals to outside agencies;
• develop positive, trusting and professional relationships with staff, students and families;
• promote well-being at all levels of St Peter’s community;
• conduct whole class workshops, delivering class programs to assist teachers in the classroom;
• support and provide pastoral care for staff;
• maintain case files and records;
• respond to crisis situations such as mental health and child abuse emergencies; and
• develop plans and strategies to improve students’ academic performance and social development.
Qualifications Required
• An appropriate tertiary qualification - preferably a degree in Social Work or similar.
• Current Police Clearance and Working With Children.
