Position Details

St Cecilia’s is seeking enthusiastic classroom teachers to join our team in 2025. This ongoing position would be a great opportunity for graduate or experienced teachers looking for a regional experience. Teachers with Primary and Early Childhood qualifications encouraged to apply.

Founded by the Presentation Sisters of Northampton in 1942, St Cecilia's Catholic Primary School is a single stream, co-educational Catholic School situated in Port Hedland, overlooking the Indian Ocean, with an enrolment of approximately 180 students.  St Cecilia's boasts a strong school community which strives to provide a secure environment for the spiritual, moral, social, emotional and intellectual development of each student.

The successful applicant will live out their faith in their daily lives, be positive and bring their own energy and passion to an already dynamic staff.

Port Hedland enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities for both adults and children. The excellent sporting and leisure facilities include; an aquatic centre, sports stadium and parks. The beaches and mangroves are home to an abundance of fish and other wildlife. Within driving distance are the spectacular Broome, Karratha and Karijini National Park.

Included as part of the remuneration package, are relocation costs from Perth (including airfares) and subsidised rent of either a three-bedroom family home or one-bedroom single unit (pay no more than 10% of your salary in rent - approximately $245 per week).  Location allowance and air conditioning subsidies are paid in addition to salary, and water charges are fully covered (as provided in the CEWA Remote Area Package).

Selection Criteria

•    A clear commitment to be supportive of the objectives and ethos of Catholic education.
•    Possess the skills and personal qualities necessary to build trusting and authentic relationships with other staff, all students and their parents, and the wider community.
•    Have a sound understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum
•    Demonstrate the ability to use assessment and data effectively to be able to plan and implement teaching and learning programs that aim to improve the learning of all students through effective and engaging teaching and differentiated learning experiences.
•    Be an enthusiastic and highly capable teacher able to work cooperatively and collaboratively as part of a team.
•    Have sound IT skills and the confidence to integrate technology effectively into the curriculum to enhance learning.
•    Possess strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, showing initiative to work independently.
•    Excellent behaviour management skills based on restorative and supportive practices.

Qualifications Required

•    Accreditation to Teach Religious Education (or be working towards/be willing to work towards).
