Position Details

This is an ongoing position commencing immediatley. This role works 8.00 am to 4.00 pm, Monday to Friday and 42 weeks per year.  

As an integral member of the College’s pastoral care structure, the Psychologist focuses on the students within the school environment with the goal of maximising each student’s learning potential, emotional well-being, social development and interpersonal skills.

Your day will look like:
  • building and maintaining strong relationships based on mutual respect with students, families and peers;
  • providing exemplary professional counselling service guided by the ethics and codes of practice of your relevant professional association;
  • working with the Senior Leadership Team and Student Services Team to achieve the best outcomes possible for the students in the College’s care;
  • being a role model of the College's values;
  • actively supporting Catholic identity and the development of faith;
  • supporting the Behaviour Management strategies in place at the College and contributing to these strategies through the provision of peer mediation and restorative practices; and
  • have the capacity to maintain accurate and complete records and effective administration and organisation of activities related to the role.

Selection Criteria

For this role, you will need:
  • previous experience in a similar role preferably in an education setting;
  • appropriate tertiary qualifications;
  • to be registered by the Psychology Board of Australia under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law;
  • demonstrated effective Duty of Care for students in line with policy and procedures;
  • an exemplary record of professional conduct, including maintaining appropriate confidentiality; and
  • hold and maintain a Working with Children Check and Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
