St Munchin’s Catholic School Gosnells, is seeking to employ a passionate, dynamic and enthusiastic Social Worker to join our diverse, committed and vibrant team.
St Munchin’s is a co-educational, double-stream Catholic school, founded by the Mercy Sisters. Today the school caters for over 450 learners from Three-Year-Old Kindy to Year Six. The school draws its enrolment from a rich, diverse and multicultural community who strive to learn and grow together in harmony.
At St Munchin’s School we aspire to enact our School Vision and Vision for Learning that are underpinned by Gospel Values that encourage students to strive to do their best in all aspects of school life.
The successful applicant will be required to support students with their individual social and emotional needs and provide strategies to assist teachers in building positive relationships and resilience in students.
The school Social Worker will be required to liaise with the school Principal and class teachers to establish strategies and action plans that will promote and assist in maintaining the well-being of students, staff and our wider school community. The position requires the applicant to work within the values and ethics of the Catholic Education Western Australia.
Selection Criteria
We are seeking a suitably experienced, qualified, professional, committed, positive, "Christ centred, child focused" Social Worker who has the necessary knowledge, skills, ability and desire; Duties will include (but are not limited to:
- Developing positive, trusting and professional relationships with students and their families.
- Counselling students and families.
- Sharing their skills and expertise with staff.
- Conducting whole-class workshops where necessary and demonstrating strategies which staff can employ in their classrooms.
- Liaising and assisting in referrals with outside community agencies.
- Providing parent workshops on relevant content.
- Supporting and providing pastoral care to staff.
Applicants must submit a curriculum vitae, addressed to the Principal, including the names and contact numbers of three referees, one of whom must be the current employer.
Qualifications Required
- An appropriate tertiary qualification- preferably a degree in Social work or similar.
- Eligibility for membership of Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Accreditation to work in a Catholic School
