Position Details

Assumption Catholic Primary School is double stream co-educational school from Pre Kindy to Year 6. A sense of pride and joy abounds in our flourishing learning community, where the whole community aspires daily to our school motto "United in Christ".

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic School Chaplain & Counsellor to join our school for the rest of 2024. This is an opportunity to join a school where the focus is on implementing evidence based teaching practices to ensure every student reaches their very finest potential in all aspects of their development. The position is a part time position with days and times to be negotiated.

Applicants will be highly motivated and committed to supporting the spititual, social and emotional wellbeing of students. They will work collaboratively to implement whole school approaches consistently and take collective responsibility for all students.

Applicants will be committed to ongoing professional learning and growth to ensure they maintain and build on contemporary evidence based approaches.


Selection Criteria

• Experience in supporting the spiritual, social and emotional wellbeing of students;
• An understanding of and the ability to provide support for a range of day to day matters affecting the school community;
• Ability to work with a diverse range of students individually and in small groups, utilising social and emotional programs;
• Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students and parents;
• Be a positive, professional and enthusiastic staff member who demonstrates initiative, a growth mindset and a desire to continue to improve;
• Counsel and refer students to external providers, as required;
• A proven ability to plan collaboratively, implement whole school approaches to wellbeing consistently and take collective responsibility for students;
• Be proficient in the use and integration of ICT skills;
• Demonstrates a commitment to contributing actively to the life of the school.


Qualifications Required

• Applicants must be prepared to support the Catholic ethos in the performance of their duties;
• Certificate IV in Youth Work, Pastoral Care, or Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care; or equivalent
• A Working with Children Check;
• An Australian Federal Police Criminal Record Check;  
• Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School; or ability to work towards it.
