Maintenance and Groundsperson
This is a part time ongoing position (0.6 FTE) as a Maintenance and Groundsperson commencing 23 February 2026.
Mary's Mount Primary School is a single stream co-educational Primary School positioned in the Hills of Perth and only 30 minutes from the Perth CBD. Mary’s Mount was opened in 1921 by the Sisters of St Joseph of the Apparition. The school caters for children from Three Year Old Kindergarten to Year Six and has a strong relationship with the local parish and the wider community.
The Maintenance & Groundsperson is responsible for all matters relating to the provision of a high standard of maintenance of Mary’s Mount buildings, property and grounds. They work in consultation with the Principal, Assistant Principal and Finance Officer to provide input to assist with the school’s infrastructure planning, construction, refurbishment, security, Work Health and Safety (WHS) and environmental management.
Selection Criteria
• Carry out work to maintain the grounds and maintenance requirements to ensure the smooth operation of the school.
• Inspect school grounds, buildings, and facilities to maintain safety, functionality, and visual appeal.
• Respond to maintenance requests and manage a ticketing system for timely completion of tasks.
• Monitor water usage and reticulation systems, performing repairs as needed.
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure quality work and timely delivery of goods and services.
• Support school logistics, including event setups, furniture moves, and deliveries.
• Understands tools, machinery and safety, and comply with WH&S protocols when using machinery equipment.
• Communicate regularly with the Principal, Assistant Principal and Finance Officer regarding budgets, priorities, and infrastructure planning.
• Must be physically fit and mobile and have good observation skills.
• Maintain and assist with all aspects of recycling and best environmental and sustainable practices.
• Successful candidate will need to be flexible and able to work flexible hours at the Principal’s discretion.
• Hold a current WA Drivers’ Licence.
• Able to work autonomously and have sound problem solving skills.
Qualifications Required
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE
• To be fully supportive of the objectives and ethos of Catholic Education in the performance of their duties.
• To be working towards or have completed the Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School.
• Hold a Working with Children Card and 100pt NCCH.
