Position Details

School Psychologist – Part-time (0.4 FTE), Ongoing

The School Psychologist at St Jerome’s is an integral part of a team that contributes to the development and growth of our diverse and dynamic school community.

The School Psychologist contributes to building and sustaining well-being at individual, community, and whole-school levels, working collaboratively and relationally with staff, students, and the wider school community.  The School Psychologist will exercise a degree of autonomy and will also work consultatively and collaboratively, as an integrated and valued member of the school staff.

Working collaboratively with all teachers and school staff, but in particular, with the Advocate for Learning Diversity, and School Leadership, the School Psychologist supports engagement and well-being through direct service provision, supporting the development and implementation of documented plans, staff consultation and support, and, through the development, support, and implementation of whole-school initiatives.


Selection Criteria

•    Eligible for registration as a psychologist (provisionally registered psychologists will be considered).
•    Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain respectful and effective professional relationships based on subsidiarity and co-responsibility, and ability to utilise a consultative and collaborative process while working with others.
•    Demonstrated ability to work independently within professional boundaries, and, demonstrated capacity to both actively seek out supervision with an openness and responsiveness to feedback.
•    Demonstrated ability to evaluate intervention effectiveness and adapt intervention goals and methods as required.


Qualifications Required

The School Psychologist will maintain registration as a psychologist (or work towards this if provisionally registered), adhere to professional standards and ethical practice, actively seek professional supervision and development, and demonstrate a commitment to the ethos of the school will seek (and/or maintain) accreditation and faith formation requirements of Catholic Education WA.
