Position Details

St Munchin’s Catholic School Gosnells, is seeking to employ a passionate, dynamic and enthusiastic Assistant Principal to join our diverse, committed and vibrant team. St Munchin’s is a co-educational, double-stream Catholic school, founded by the Mercy Sisters. Today the school caters for over 450 learners from Three-Year-Old Kindy to Year Six. The school draws its enrolment from a rich, diverse and multicultural community who strive to learn and grow together in harmony.

Selection Criteria

We are seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, committed, positive, “Christ-centred, child- focused” Catholic leader who has demonstrated recent leadership success in Catholic schools. Responsibility and working knowledge of the four pillars of QCE and experience in leading and supporting the principal in this delivery is essential. Proven experience or another area/s of expertise i.e. Staff Development, EALD, Digital Technology, Social and Emotional Wellbeing, School Improvement is also highly desired.  

  • An understanding and commitment to the ethos of Catholic Education with the ability to lead / support the Religious Education learning area and Catholic Identity of the school with acknowledgement to the charism of the Mercy Sisters.
  • Proven success and excellence in classroom teaching and management.
  • The capacity to wear “several hats at once!” Be highly organised and capable of delivering the administrative demands required of a senior school leader.
  • Leadership experience and the ability to work as part of a team to liaise with the Parish, Parish Priest, Catholic School Advisory Council, P&F, key CEWA Staff and local agencies.
  • A proven capacity and high level of competency in supporting the school in all aspects of school leadership, including Catholic Identity, Education, Community and Stewardship.
  • Experience in promoting a culture of learning and continual improvement, with a focus on learning gains for all students and a capacity to analyse student data at year level and whole school level.
  • A strong understanding of successful and contemporary educational practices and a passion for 21st century learning, incorporating explicit, flexible and inquiry based learning.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring early career staff for continued professional growth using instructional feedback.
  • The ability to maintain structures and strategies for effective liaison, consultation, collaboration and partnership with parents with a focus on student achievement, wellbeing, safety and resilience.
  • A high level of professionalism, understanding of confidentiality, empathy and positive interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a collaborative and dynamic Leadership and Extended Leadership Team.
