Social Worker – Part-time (0.6 FTE), Ongoing


Our Lady of Grace School is a school formed in the tradition of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth that has served the education needs of families in the North Beach area for 70 years. We are a Christ centred, child focused transitioning to a triple stream school by 2024. Our Lady of Grace School seeks to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Social Worker to join our professional team. This is an ongoing, part time position, the person we are looking for will be a diligent and dedicated professional who will be an asset to our catholic education community.

The Social Worker is responsible for home/school liaison, delivery of SEL and small group interventions, and liaison and referral to community-based agencies. They will work under the guidance and direction of the Core Leadership Team to support students across the Years K-6 and promote the wellbeing objectives of the School for the benefit of its students and community.

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role.  
  • Demonstrated skills and experience working with primary aged children and families.
  • Ability to work in working with a multi-disciplinary team setting to deliver positive outcomes for primary school aged students at risk.  
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated strong conceptual and analytical skills with the ability to identify and clarify issues and problems and generate strategies to address them.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of school systems and operations
  • Demonstrated experience in family and systems therapy.
  • Highly developed organisational skills and time management skills.
  • Experience in identifying and providing referrals to outside agencies.
  • Ability to keep accurate records of interviews, appointments and meetings, and writing detailed reports as necessary.
  • Experience in collaborative case management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity.
  • The ability to work within strict privacy and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Willingness to become an active member of the School community.


Qualifications Required

  • A qualifying tertiary qualification in Social Work.
  • Eligibility for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  • Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School (or willingness to obtain).
  • Working with Children Card.
  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (or willingness to obtain this from the Department of Education).
