Position Details
Deputy Principal (Pastoral Care and Ministry)
Kearnan College is a PK-12 school situated in beautiful Manjimup, 300kms south of Perth. We have approximately 350 students and 58 teaching and support staff. The College is seeking an outstanding educator for the newly created position of Deputy Principal (Pastoral Care and Ministry). Applications from those with primary or secondary backgrounds are welcomed. A Term 4 start is preferable, but Term 1, 2026 is also possible.
The Deputy Principal (Pastoral Care and Ministry) is a key member of the Kearnan College Executive Leadership Team. They are responsible for leading and overseeing pastoral care, student wellbeing and faith formation initiatives across the school. The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in nurturing a safe, inclusive and faith-filled environment where students grow spiritually, emotionally, socially and academically.
The Deputy Principal (Pastoral Care and Ministry) will:
• Act as a visible and supportive leader across the school community, modelling Gospel values and servant leadership.
• Lead and provide support to the pastoral care team comprised of Heads of Year and Homeroom Teachers.
• Serve as a point of contact for students in need of support, and their parents.
• Lead the ongoing development, implementation and review of whole-school wellbeing and behaviour support frameworks, informed by current research and Catholic values.
• Lead and coordinate liturgical life, prayer, retreats and faith formation for staff and students.
• Foster strong relationships with families, the parish community, the Parish Priest and external agencies.
• Lead and promote school initiatives that reflect the College's mission in the wider community.
• Participate in the development and implementation of the Kearnan School Improvement Plan and contribute to strategic planning and review.
Selection Criteria
• Leadership experience in pastoral care, student wellbeing or ministry within a school context.
• Knowledge of contemporary wellbeing practices and how they are best applied in a school setting.
• A commitment to nurturing the faith formation of students and staff.
• Demonstrated capacity to lead with integrity, empathy and vision.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Skills to contribute to and promote a strong staff culture focused on support and improvement.
• The ability to work collaboratively with other staff and the Executive Leadership Team.
Qualifications Required
• Accreditation for Leadership in a Catholic School (or significant progress towards)
• Relevant 4-year tertiary qualifications
• Desirable - Professional Certificate in Wellbeing in Education
