Position Details

Secondary Religious Education Teacher – Full-time, Ongoing

Kearnan College is a dynamic Catholic College catering for students from Kindergarten - Year 12. The College is seeking a highly motivated Religious Education teacher to teach students in Years 7-12. The successful applicant will be expected to work cooperatively with all members of the teaching staff in the interests of the students. They will be directly responsible to the Head of Learning Area and the Head of Secondary.

The successful applicant will:

•    Be prepared to work closely with the Principal and staff to ensure that Kearnan College authentically reflects the mission of a Catholic school.
•    Be able to demonstrate knowledge and expertise in the implementation of relevant curriculum.
•    Meet all requirements and deadlines pertaining to administration, assessment, and reporting.
•    Promote a vibrant and engaging learning environment by providing innovative approaches to student learning.
•    Attend meetings of the Religious Education Learning Area.
•    Establish positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
•    Undertake any other duties as reasonably required by the Principal.


Selection Criteria

The successful applicant must:

•    Be supportive of the Catholic ethos of the College.
•    Have a detailed knowledge of current curriculum developments in the Religious Education teaching and learning area.
•    Have excellent planning skills and the ability to create programs that cater for individual differences.
•    Have the ability to analyse and use data to inform teaching and learning practices in order to raise student levels of achievement.
•    Possess highly effective communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Have excellent classroom management and organisational skills that create a supportive and safe environment.
•    Have an excellent understanding of a variety of assessment and reporting strategies and the need to provide effective and timely feedback to parents and students.
•    Have the capacity to be a pro-active member of a professional learning community, complying with legal, administrative, and professional requirements.
•    Demonstrate an ability to integrate technology effectively into the daily classroom environment.
•    A preparedness to be fully involved in school activities.


Qualifications Required

•    Accreditation requirements as specified by the Catholic Education Office Western Australia – Accreditation to Teach RE (or working towards).
•    Relevant 4-year tertiary qualifications.
