Position Details

Assumption Catholic Primary School is double stream co-educational school from Pre-Kindy to Year 6. A sense of pride and joy abounds in our flourishing learning community, where the whole community aspires daily to our school motto "United in Christ".

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic teacher of AUSLAN (Languages) to join our school in 2024. This is an opportunity to join a school where the focus is on implementing evidence based teaching practices to ensure every student reaches their very finest potential in all aspects of their development. The position is an ongoing position.

Applicants will be highly motivated and committed to supporting staff to raise outcomes for all students; through rigorous high impact approaches to planning and teaching with a focus on engagement and progress for every child. They will use ongoing assessment to check for understanding, differentiate teaching and plan next steps in learning. They should work collaboratively to implement whole school approaches consistently and take collective responsibility for all students.

Applicants will be committed to ongoing professional learning and growth to ensure they maintain and build on contemporary evidence based approaches; this will include coaching, classroom observation and feedback.

Selection Criteria

• Possess a sound knowledge and understanding of AUSLAN and teach this in an engaging and creative manner
• Demonstrate excellence in teaching and classroom management as a dynamic, innovative and reflective practitioner
• An understanding of and the ability to differentiate the teaching and learning program to cater for student needs
• Ability to continuously analyse and use data to inform teaching and learning practises to raise student achievement
• Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students and parents
• Be a positive, professional and enthusiastic teacher who demonstrates initiative, a growth mindset and a desire to continue to improve
• Demonstrate a sound understanding of the Western Australian & Australian Curriculum
• A deep understanding, commitment to, and application of evidence based educational practice; particularly high impact instruction
• A proven ability to plan collaboratively, implement whole school approaches consistently and take collective responsibility for students
• Be highly proficient in the use and integration of ICT skills, especially iPads
• Demonstrates a commitment to contributing actively to the life of the school

Qualifications Required

• Exhibit an active personal witness to the Catholic Faith
• Relevent four year tertiary qualification
• Accreditation to Teach Religious Education Learning Area, or the ability to achieve Accreditation to Teach Religious Education
• AUSLAN qualification (Desirable but not essential, but a willingness to learn)
