Position Details:

We are seeking a person who can be the Head of Faith and Mission a temporary full-time contract for the whole of 2025.

The successful applicant will be committed to the engagement and progress of all students, teachers, and staff in a culture of excellence, innovation, opportunity, and their ongoing faith.

The Head of Faith and Mission will inspire and encourage students and staff to participate in and pursue the authentic creation of a culture of faith development, in the Mercy tradition, where all are treated with respect and dignity.

Selection Criteria:


Faith Leadership

  • Be fully supportive of the objectives and ethos of Catholic and Mercy Education.
  • Demonstration of an active membership of the Catholic church and a manner of life which gives witness to that life.
  • Provide effective leadership in the creation of liturgical celebrations, retreats, and faith development programs within the college.
  • Inspire and encourage the whole college community to participate and pursue authentic faith experiences.
  • Modelling of Christian values and behaviours to the college community.
  • Planning and Coordination of the Faith Story and Witness programs for new staff members.
  • Develop, promote, coordinate, and support Social Justice Initiatives and Programs within the college.
  • Planning and Coordination of Reflection Days, Retreats, and the Immersion Service Program.

Strategic and Organisational Leadership

  • Responsible for the promotion of Strategic planning, effective administration and appropriate. review mechanism for all activities related to Faith and Mission.
  • Be aware of Faith and Mission developments at a local, national, and international level.
  • Responsible for the vision and implementation of the colleges strategic plan.
  • Assist with policies and procedures development.
  • Assistance with enrolment interviews as required.
  • Promoting of the Fundraising Policy and overseeing fundraising activities.
  • Active participation in the college house system.
  • Understanding and applying the Schools Child Safety Policies and Procedures, including identifying and reporting risks, identifying child abuse indicators, management of disclosures, and internal and external reporting obligations.

Educational Leadership

  • Responsible for teaching 0.2 FTE per week.
  • Encouragement of future orientated thinking and practice.
  • Demonstrated outstanding teaching practice and engaging pedagogy.
  • Involvement in shaping the pedagogy and the Religious Education Curriculum.
  • Promotion of a curriculum based on the integration of faith, culture and life that promotes the religious, intellectual, social, cultural, and physical development of students.
