Position Details

2x Education Assistants (Primary) – Part-time (0.6 FTE), Ongoing

These two ongoing positions advertised are for qualified Education Assistants working 0.6FTE over 5 days each week.  In 2025 these role will be for 3 days per week from 8:15am-3:10pm, and the successful candidate will be able to negotiate working up to 5 full days in 2025 if they wish.

Leschenault Catholic Primary School is a double stream school catering for students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year Six. We are  a C.H.R.I.S.T centred community that inspires every individual to think, to learn and to strive for academic excellence. These values underpin and guide everything  we do. Our school improvement journey is guided by current research into best teaching practice. We have an effective and supportive School Improvement Team who oversee the teaching programs to ensure consistency and fidelity across our school. Current programs implemented in the school are: Pre-Lit/Initia-Lit (K-2), Heggerty Phonemic Awareness (K-2), Mini-Lit/Macqlit (1-6), Talk for Writing (K-6), Talk for Reading (3-6) and Spelling Mastery (3-6)


Selection Criteria

Requirements (Highly Desirable):

•    Experience in:  MiniLit/Macqlit intervention.
•    Demonstrate the physical capability to undertake this role supporting the personal, health, hygiene, education, socialisation and safety of students.
•    Use initiative, be flexible and work independently.
•    Connect with, motivate and inspire students.
•    Develop strong, effective and collaborative relationships with students, parents and teachers.

Requirements (Legal and Catholic Education WA):

•    Applicants must be prepared to support the Catholic ethos in the performance of their duties.
•    To be eligible to apply for this role you must be legally permitted to work in Australia.
•    A current (less than 6 months old) National Police History Check as issued by the Department of Education Western Australia must also be included. The appropriate Criminal History Record Check form is available from the Department of Education website.


Qualifications Required

•    Working With Children Check (WA).
•    Education Assistant or Teaching Assistant Qualification (minimum Cert III).
