Position Details

Auslan Teacher – Part-time (0.4 FTE), Ongoing

Our Lady of Mercy Primary School is a Kindy to Year 6, double stream, co-educational Catholic primary school located in Girrawheen.  Our Lady of Mercy Primary takes great pride in our traditions, multiculturalism and strong Mercy and Gospel values.  We provide a caring school community that nurtures the integrity and gentleness of each individual.  

Our school is committed to improving learning outcomes for all students with a particular emphasis on early intervention.  The building of staff capacity and high levels of staff collaboration are key elements of the school culture.  We are seeking a dedicated, passionate and committed Auslan teacher with a thorough understanding of effective pedagogical practices.  The applicant will support a culture in which every student is recognised as having the ability to learn and where learning and engagement are actively promoted through quality teaching practice.  The applicant must be a positive and enthusiastic person and be willing to work as part of a team.


Selection Criteria

The successful applicant will:

-  Be prepared to support the Catholic ethos in the performance of their duties (essential) and have a strong identity with the Catholic faith (desirable)
-  Have high expectations about children's ability to learn
-  Possess a comprehensive knowledge of the Languages learning area in the Western Australian Curriculum
-  Provide a teaching/learning program that engages all learners through explicit teaching
-  Use data-informed teaching practice through the application of assessment and continuous monitoring of student achievement
-  Posses energy and enthusiasm and a willingness to participate in extra-curricular activities
-  Display excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate a committed and enthusiastic approach to developing positive and constructive relationships across the school community
-  Experience working with EAL-D children is advantageous


Qualifications Required

-  4 Year Trained
-  Current Working With Children Check Card
-  Full TRBWA registration
-  Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic school or be willing to work towards this Accreditation
