Assistant Principal – Full-time, Ongoing

We are currently seeking a full-time Assistant Principal to commence at the start of Term 1, 2025. This is an ongoing position commencing on 1 January 2025.

Founded by the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions in 1918, St Matthew’s School Narrogin is a single stream, co-educational Catholic school with an enrolment of  approximately 170 students from Kindergarten to Year Six. Narrogin is a comfortable two-hour drive from both Perth and Bunbury, and offers a host of sporting, cultural, artistic and community opportunities in a thriving rural locality.

Selection Criteria

The role of Assistant Principal will be shared with a range of responsibilities in supporting the Principal in the domains of leadership in a Catholic School - Catholic Identity, Education, Community and Stewardship. Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate:

• Support of the objectives and ethos of Catholic education, contributing to the spiritual and community life of the school.
• Support of the Principal and work collaboratively and effectively as part of a leadership team.
• Success as a dynamic, innovative and reflective teaching practitioner.
• Sound knowledge of current educational theories and practices and proven ability to both lead staff in professional learning and development and drive educational change.
• An ability to work collaboratively with the Parish to lead Sacramental programs and promote the area of Religious Education.
• Experience in supporting students with diverse educational needs.
• Expertise with ICT and its applications within the classroom environment.
• Highly organised and solutions focused, with an understanding of school administrative work, accountability and deadlines.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills with a successful record of developing positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the parish.
• Enthusiasm and initiative as a school leader and preparedness to be involved in extra-curricular activities.
• Have experience with Inquiry Learning, Explicit Teaching, Data Analysis and Curriculum.
• Experience with the Assistant Principal position is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications Required

1. Active membership of the Catholic Church.
2. Relevant 4-year tertiary qualifications. Master’s degree preferable but not essential.
3. A minimum of seven years teaching experience.
4. Current Accreditation for the Leadership of the Religious Education Learning Area.
