Accountant

As a member of the Finance Team, the Accountant supports the Business Manager in ensuring the sound financial management of the College through timely and accurate compliance, accounting and reporting. In helping oversee the day-to-day operations of the Finance Team, the Accountant plays a key part in establishing and maintaining strong systems and controls.


Selection Criteria

· Undertake the day-to-day management of the College’s financials and its related operations, with the highest standard of timeliness and accuracy.
· Oversee the maintenance of the following modules in AOS: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit and Collections, Fixed Assets, Billing, Cash and Bank Management.
· Ensure monthly reconciliation of bank accounts and all other balance sheet accounts.
· Undertake payroll processing and reporting.
· Ensure debt recovery and promote debt prevention through the implementation of fee collection procedures with the assistance of Fees Officer.
· Manage the College financial end of year processes and preparation for the financial audit.
· Ensure that all reporting and key monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines are met.
· Assist the Business Manager with day-to-day supervision and accountability of the Finance staff, including maintaining an environment of cooperation and teamwork.
· Assist with the development of the annual budget ensuring procedural integrity, effective financial analysis and recommendation of enhancements to improve the process
· Assist with strategic planning and forecasting, modelling best-practice in developing, monitoring and reporting financial plans including strategic, operational and master planning processes.


Qualifications Required

Essential

· Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business Management, or another related area.
· Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) or equivalent membership.
· Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School (or working towards).

Desirable

· A sound working knowledge of accounting standards and requirements for Catholic Schools in Western Australia.
