Education Assistant - Full-time, Ongoing


St Thomas' is a vibrant, single stream, co-educational primary school catering for students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6. Situated in the heart of Claremont, the school seeks to educate the whole child in a Christ centred, child focused, safe learning environment.

We are seeking a highly motivated professional with a desire to be a part of a dynamic and innovative teaching and learning community.

This is a full time Education Assistant Role (1.0 FTE) commencing 15 July 2024. This is an ongoing position working Monday to Friday 8.15am-3.15pm.

Applicants will be highly motivated and committed to supporting staff to raise outcomes for all students; through rigorous high impact approaches to planning and teaching with a focus on engagement and progress for every child. They should work collaboratively to implement whole school approaches consistently and take collective responsibility for all students.  

Applicants will be committed to ongoing professional learning and growth to ensure they maintain and build on contemporary evidence based approaches.


Selection Criteria

• Demonstrate a desire to assist each student to achieve their potential and be able to assist with the learning opportunities provided for all students;
• Demonstrate excellence in classroom management and relationship building skills;
• Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, flexibility and confidentiality;
• Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students and parents;
• Be a positive, professional and enthusiastic staff member who demonstrates initiative, a growth mindset and a desire to continue to improve;  
• Work under the direction of the class teachers;
• Be proficient in the use and integration of ICT skills, especially iPads; and
• Demonstrates a commitment to contributing actively to the life of the school and make a positive contribution to the culture of St Thomas’.


Qualifications Required

• Hold appropriate qualifications of Certificates III or IV and/or Special Needs Qualifications;
• WWC & National Police Clearance.
