Position Details

Education Assistants (Special Needs) – Part-time (0.42 FTE), Temporary

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic part time/temporary Special Needs Education assistant for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30 to 1pm for the 2025 school year.

St Patrick's Primary School, Fremantle, is a vibrant, co-educational, single-stream primary school, catering for students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year Six.The model of schooling offered by St Patrick’s is underpinned by the Gospel values and encourages students to strive to do their best in all facets of school life. Our Early Childhood Centre caters for Three-Year-Old Pre-Kindergarten, Four-Year-Old Kindergarten and Pre-Primary students.

The successful applicant will be expected to live out their faith in their daily lives, demonstrate excellence in teaching and be passionate about students' learning and development.


Selection Criteria

1. Be prepared to support the Catholic ethos in the performance of their duties.
2. Have experience in assisting and engaging students with various needs including Autism and ADHD in both one-to-one and group situations.
3. Is flexible, professional and contributes positively to staff culture.
4. Displays excellent communication, interpersonal and organisation skills.
5. Shows initiative and is working to work independently.
6. Is able to work closely with the classroom teacher to support the learning, social and emotional needs of the students.
7. Demonstrates a commitment to child safety and an understanding of the CEWA Child Safe Framework.


Qualifications Required

1. Certificate IV Education Support or equivalent.
2. A valid Working with Children Check Card in Western Australia.
3. Accreditation to Work in Catholic Schools (or willingness to attain this).

It is expected that applicants will provide a one-page cover letter, a simple Curriculum Vitae and specifically address each Selection Criteria. Applicants need to provide at least three professional referees, one of whom should be the current employer.

The Selection Criteria should be no more than three pages in total.
