Position Details
Head Groundsperson
Mater Christi Catholic Primary School is a three stream co-educational school catering for approximately 700 students from Early Learning (Pre-kindy) to Year Six. We are a modern and well resourced school positioned within a peaceful environment overlooking Yangebup Lake, 20 minutes south of Perth. The Head Groundsperson plays a key role in ensuring our school’s grounds and facilities are safe, functional, and visually appealing. They work collaboratively with the groundsperson to carry out their duties under the direction of the Principal. This position may be negotiable to part-time for the suitable candidate.
Selection Criteria
The successful applicant would:
• Be supportive of the mission and values of Catholic education ensuring that the wellbeing of all students is a priority in every task undertaken
• Have demonstrated experience in grounds or property maintenance
• Possess basic trade or handyman skills and experience in the operation of garden and grounds machinery and tools.
• Show initiative, be able to work independently and manage time effectively
• Have good physical fitness with the ability to undertake manual labour
• Display strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate and oversee trade work
• Demonstrate flexibility, reliability and initiative in responding to the changing school needs
• Promote positive workplace behaviour and maintain a clean, safe, and well-presented school environment by following all safe work practices under WHS requirements
• 38 Hours per week. Hours of work: 7.00am to 3.00pm (negotiable)
Qualifications Required
• Certificate III in Horticulture (or equivalent industry experience)
• Current Driver's licence
• White Card (Construction Induction Training, WA) preferred
• Dept of Education National Criminal History Check
• Desirable: Experience in grounds or facility maintenance with a school or community organisation.
• Willingness to work towards Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School
