<strong>SCHOOL CHAPLAIN/COUNSELLOR</strong><br /> <br /> <strong>Position Details</strong><br /> St Joseph&rsquo;s Primary School, Bunbury, is seeking to appoint a Chaplain/Counsellor one day per week to support student wellbeing and mental health.<br /> The successful applicant will work closely with Leadership and Teaching staff to identify students who require social-emotional support and liaise with families to provide this support in either one-to-one or small group sessions. Students are not obliged to participate in the program, and parents and students will be regularly informed by the school about the availability and the voluntary nature of the chaplaincy/counselling service.<br /> <br /> <strong>Specific Duties:</strong><br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Meet regularly with staff and leadership to discuss students and families of concern within the school.<br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; Complete intake assessments and meet 1-1 with students and parents as required to support their wellbeing needs.<br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; Keep Weekly Schedule records updated to track and monitor support of students and facilitate support conversations with school leadership.<br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; Provide pastoral care and counselling services to the school community (families and students).<br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; Regularly provide an updated letter and referral form to the school community.<br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Inform all students, parents and school community members of the appropriate consent procedures and that these measures are consistent with Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia (CECWA) policy or guidelines, where applicable.<br /> <br /> <strong>Selection Criteria</strong><br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; Meet regularly with staff and leadership to discuss students and families of concern within the school.<br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; Complete intake assessments and meet 1-1 with students and parents as required to support their wellbeing needs.<br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; Keep Weekly Schedule records updated to track and monitor support of students and facilitate support conversations with school leadership.<br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; Store session records securely using school-based records system.<br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; Provide pastoral care and counselling services to the school community (families and students).<br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; Regularly provide an updated letter and referral form to the school community.<br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Inform all students, parents and school community members of the appropriate consent procedures and ensure that these measures are consistent with Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia (CECWA) policy or guidelines, where applicable.<br /> <strong><br /> Qualifications required</strong><br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; Australian Federal Police criminal record check<br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; WA Working With Children Check<br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School or prepared to work towards<br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; Certificate IV in Youth Work or Pastoral Care (minimum) or equivalent<br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; e-Safety Commissioner Cyberbullying program completion<br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; CEWA Mandatory Reporting training<br /> &bull;&nbsp; &nbsp; Support the school in maintaining the Catholic ethos of the school and act in a manner that is in keeping with the teachings of the Catholic Church.<br /> <div><br /> </div> <div><strong>Closing Date for Applications: </strong><em>3 June 2026</em></div> <div><br /> </div> <div><br /> </div>
